Goal
- To update Daily Overtime, Daily Doubletime and Weekly Overtime
Environment:
- Push Web App
Process:
- In the top right-hand corner, click the Company Name.
- In the drop-down menu, click Company Setup.
- On the left-hand navigation bar, click Hours Structure.
- The page will load to a new one called Hours Structure: Regular/Overtime/Doubletime
-
Check or uncheck the boxes next to Overtime (OT), Doubletime (DT) and/or Weekly Overtime to control whether these calculations are enabled for your business.
- If checked, the platform will automatically calculate overtime pay for eligible employees based on the thresholds you set, and include those payments in payroll.
- If unchecked, the platform will treat all hours as regular time—even if employees go over standard limits—and no automatic overtime pay will be issued.
-
For each Overtime type you’ve enabled, use the Range 1 and Range 2 fields to define the hour thresholds and rate multipliers.
-
These ranges determine when overtime begins and ends.
Example: Overtime: 8.00 to 12.00 hours at 1.5x or Doubletime: 12.00 hours onwards at 2.0x
⚠️ Important: Your ranges must progress without any gaps. If Overtime ends at 12 hours, Doubletime must begin at 12, not 13. Any gaps between time types (e.g., OT ends at 12, DT starts at 13) will prevent the system from calculating overtime correctly.
- For Weekly Overtime, determine the Start (Day of the) Week and Select Regular or Total for Hours Used) accordingly.
-
- Skip this step unless your business is located in New Brunswick or Newfoundland and Labrador.
- You’ll see a section labelled Calculate Overtime Pay Using. This setting controls how the 1.5x overtime rate is calculated for eligible hours. From the drop-down menu, choose whether to calculate overtime based on:
- Province’s Minimum Wage (default)
- Employee’s Assigned Position Wage
- You’ll see a section labelled Calculate Overtime Pay Using. This setting controls how the 1.5x overtime rate is calculated for eligible hours. From the drop-down menu, choose whether to calculate overtime based on:
- Once done, click Update Hours Structure, and the page will refresh with the latest changes!
Additional Information
The Hours Structure defines how overtime is calculated within the system and is automatically set based on your province or state. Super Admins can make changes if applicable, but please reference your local rules to ensure compliance. All employees are assigned to the company’s default Hours Structure unless otherwise configured.
⚠️ Warning: The Hours Structure applies only to hourly employees and does not apply to salaried employees. However, employees with a daily rate who clock in and out may have their hours affect pay, depending on their position configuration.
When using biweekly, three-week, or four-week overtime structures, a Start Date must be set. If your payroll frequency or pay period dates change, be sure to review and update the Hours Structure Start Week to ensure calculations remain accurate.
Any changes to the Hours Structure will apply moving forward from the date they are saved and will not automatically apply retroactively. If you need changes to apply to the current pay period, contact Support at support@pushoperations.com to resync your clock entries. Changes cannot be applied to already approved payrolls.
Only Super Administrators can update the Hours Structure.
