How To Approve/Reject Shift Swap & Release Requests On The Push Manager App

Goal

  • How to see current shift swap requests on the Push Manager app that require updates from a Manager
  • How to approve an employee releasing their shift to another employee
  • How to approve employees who wish to swap their shifts and update the scheduler

Environment:

  • Push Manager App

Process:

Approving a Request:

  1. Open the Push Manager App and enter your login credentials using your Email Address and Password associated with your Push account
  2. On the top left corner, click the three stripes or swipe right
  3. In the drop-down menu, click Shift Approvals
  4. Under Awaiting Manager Approval, there will be a list of all Pending Shift Swap and/or Release Requests
  5. Click the Checkmark Icon that corresponds with the Request you wish to approve 
  6. In the pop-up, click Approve

Rejecting a Request: 

  1. Open the Push Manager App and enter your login credentials using your Email Address and Password associated with your Push account
  2. On the top left corner, click the three stripes or swipe right
  3. In the drop-down menu, click Shift Approvals
  4. Under Awaiting Manager Approval, there will be a list of all Pending Shift Swap and/or Release Requests
  5. Click the X icon that corresponds with the Request you wish to reject
  6. In the pop-up, click Decline

Additional Information

All requests that are listed under Awaiting User Action mean one of the following:

  • Employee A has submitted a request to swap a scheduled shift with Employee B, but Employee B has not yet approved or rejected this change
  • Employee A has released a shift that they were scheduled for and is waiting for any Employee with the same position to pick it up.

When another employee accepts the Shift Swap or takes on the Shift Release, the request will move to Awaiting Manager Approval for an Administrator to approve or reject. 

Once a Manager approves the request, both employees will receive an email notification, and the Scheduler will be automatically updated. 

⚠️ Warning: If an employee submits a request to release a shift and that request is rejected by an administrator. Whether before or after another employee requests to pick it up, the shift is removed from the shift pool and remains assigned to the original employee. If the employee wants to release the shift again, they’ll need to submit a new shift release request.

Reviewing the scheduling costs for employees switching shifts is only available on the Push web app/browser. 

Note that the Shift Approvals section in the Push Manager app only shows Requests from Shift Swaps and Releases. In order to approve Time Off Requests, this is only available on the Push web app/browser. 

Please note that only Super Administrators and Team Administrators with permissions to View/Update the Scheduler will be able to approve and reject Shift Swaps.
