Question
- What is Box 45 on T4?
- Do I have to participate in the new requirement to report Box 45 on T4s for Employer-offered Dental Benefits?
Environment:
- Push Web App
Answer
Yes, regardless of whether you provide dental care insurance, you must report this information. In your Push account, you will see a new section under the Payroll tab called Employee T4 Info Update. We recommend mass assigning the answer type: 1 - Not eligible to access any dental insurance to your employees, to complete the submission mandated by CRA.
Please reference this article on how to complete this submission if needed: How To Submit Employee's Dental Care Insurance (Box 45) For T4's
Additional Information
For 2023, it is mandatory to indicate whether the employee or any of their family members were eligible, on December 31 of that year, to access any dental care insurance or coverage of dental services of any kind that you offered. Push assists with this new regulation by allowing you to submit and update the employee's coverage status prior to T4's being processed.
You are able to save changes for specific or all employees until you are ready. However, the system will not have the option to request that T4s be completed early until all employee statuses have been updated.
Please note that if you do not select the options by January 7th, 2024, your T4 completion date may be delayed until the last week of February.
Here is the description of the codes from CRA’s webpage as of December 4th, 2023:
If you have any questions or need clarification regarding different codes or eligibility, please review this page from CRA and/or contact your health insurance plan provider.
Please note that Super Administrators and Team Administrators with the permission to Run Payroll will be able to make changes.
